For some of our groups, you will need a referral from a Hamilton Family Health Team family doctor, nurse or mental health counsellor. Skip to our Mental Health Groups listings, or read on about the sign-up process:
1. Verify your family doctor is in our network by finding them on the map here. Contact us at attach@hamiltonfht.ca if you don't have a family doctor and we'll try and attach you to one.
2. Talk to your doctor/care provider about the specific group offering you'd like. If you are eligible, they will e-refer you.
3. You will receive an email, or letter from us with a number to call to register for the group.

Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 5 weeks. Learn Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. This group is open to youth ages 14-18 within the Greater Hamilton Health Network (Hamilton, Haldimand, Niagara).
In this group, you will learn how to:
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 5 weeks. The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Matrix Group is open to patients of the Hamilton Family Health Team and a referral from your healthcare provider is required.
This group invites you to:
Experiment with new ways of responding to challenges
Explore what and who matters in your life and the obstacles that get in the way of moving towards the person you want to be
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 2 weeks. This group is open to patients of the Hamilton Family Health Team and a referral from your healthcare provider is required. In this group, you will learn about:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to treat anxiety, social anxiety and depression
Lifestyle factors to help reduce symptoms
See what group is like before signing up for a longer CBT group
**After attending both sessions, you will have the option of registering for our Managing Anxiety, Social Anxiety or our Coping with Depression group.
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 6 weeks. Do you want to decrease your anxiety, panic or social anxiety? Is your worry causing you problems at work, home or school? **Please note you must first complete the Introduction to Anxiety and Depression Workshop as a prerequisite for this group.

Learn skills and healthy habits to reduce your anxiety
Be in a group with others who "get it"
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 5 weeks. Are you afraid of being judged by others in social situations? Do you avoid public speaking, having conversations with people, or going to parties or meetings? It might be helpful for you to learn and practice skills where other people “get it”. **Please note you must first complete the Introduction to Anxiety and Depression Workshop as a prerequisite for this group.
Understand social anxiety
Identify and challenge anxious thoughts and fears
Develop new social skills
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 5 weeks. Do you want to improve your mood? Is your low mood or depression causing you problems at work, home or school? **Please note you must first complete the Introduction to Anxiety and Depression Workshop as a prerequisite for this group.

Be in a group with others who "get it"
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 5 weeks. This group is open to patients of the Hamilton Family Health Team and a referral from your healthcare provider is required.
Manage actual or perceived emotional distress
Learn how to focus on what is happening in the present without judgement
**After attending these 5 sessions, you will have the option of registering for our Coping Skills Group.
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 16 weeks. **Please note you must first complete the Introduction to Coping Skills Group as a prerequisite for this group.
Manage and respond to emotions in healthy ways
Develop healthier relationships with people
Improve communication skills
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 5 weeks. This group is open to patients of the Hamilton Family Health Team and a referral from your healthcare provider is required.
Learn how emotions are expressed, and how they influence behaviours.
Skills to help manage strong emotions.
How to be more kind and compassionate towards yourself.
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 3 weeks. This group is open to patients of the Hamilton Family Health Team and a referral from your healthcare provider is required. Do you want to decrease the impact of your interpersonal trauma? This workshop will help you to:
Understand the impacts of trauma and how it connects with behaviour
Build skills for self-care
Help prepare for additionaltrauma treatment
**After attending these 3 sessions, you will have the option of registering for our Trauma Information Group.
Offered both online and in-person, once a week for 10 weeks. This group is open to patients of the Hamilton Family Health Team and a referral from your healthcare provider is required. Must have completed Building Resilience to get into this group. **Please note you must first complete the Building Resilience Workshop: Introduction to Trauma Treatment Group as a prerequisite for this group.
