The Hamilton Family Health Team's senior leadership consists of the Board of Directors, Lead Physicians and the Leadership Team. Together, they guide and direct the organization in line with our mission, vision and values.
The Leadership Team carries out the strategic priorities set by the Board of Directors. They support the day-to-day operations of the organization from the central administrative office.
Dr. Scott Wooder, our Lead Physician, will be retiring in August 2023. Dr. Wooder was a Family Physician in Hamilton for 38 years. He has been a member of Hamilton Family Health Team (HFHT) since its inception in 2006 and took on the role of Lead Physician in 2019.
Since his appointment as our Lead Physician, Dr. Wooder has been a confident source of knowledge, care, and guidance to HFHT and our primary care community. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, he represented HFHT and all primary care stakeholders at key community planning tables. He was the voice of calm and reason at our city-wide primary care town halls, sharing the latest data and providing updates on local and provincial decision-making. While navigating the uncharted waters of the pandemic, Scott sits at the leadership table of the developing Greater Hamilton Health Network (GHHN), ably representing primary care, and building community relationships that have set the stage for a modernized and integrated local health system. Scott is passionate about improving the patient experience and ensuring all residents have access to a primary care physician and team.
Within our organization, Scott has lent his experience and guidance to our Board of Directors and been a strong collaborator with our CEO and Senior Leadership Team. As a skilled mentor, he has generously shared his knowledge with new physician leaders to ensure continued physician leadership for HFHT and the community. Scott has been instrumental in assisting our new CEO, Gloria to meet the practices, physicians and local stakeholders and continues to be a strategic advisor to the CEO and the Board.
We will truly miss Scott. Our organization is so thankful for his contributions. As a Family Physician, peer, mentor, and leader, he leaves a legacy of care, strength, and commitment.
The Board will begin a recruitment process to fill the Lead Physician role in coming weeks.
